Answer:

roots

Plants are called producers because they make – or produce – their own food. Their roots take up water and minerals from the ground and their leaves absorb a gas called carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. They convert these ingredients into food by using energy from sunlight.

Although different plants have different edible parts, the whole plant is involved in production of the food the plant produces. The roots supply water and nutrients, the stems are a conduit for these to move up the plant, and the leaves are the actual factories where photosynthesis changes carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight energy into carbohydrates… the food product produced by plants. One could argue that the leaves actually produce the food, but without the supporting structure and conduits for nutrients and essential ingredients, the leaves couldn’t exists.
