The national Food Security Act of 2013 is an Act of the Parliament of India. The act was get amended back in 2013 with an aim to provide food grains with subsidize to 2/3 of India's population.

The act has been amended in order to provide food grains for a total of 75%of rural people and 50 percent of urban people which was not done by some existing food providing acts like Midday Meal Scheme, Integrated Child Development Scheme.

The most beneficiaries of this scheme are certain categories of children, pregnant woman and lactating women.
