Thanks for the question!

The standard meridian of England is actually the GREENWICH PRIME MERIDIAN (GMT). It is considered as the official prime meridian due to its popularity. It was figured out at the Royal Observatory,Greenwich in London, United Kingdom by Sir George Airy in 1851.

The GMT passes through the Airy transit circle (51°28′40.1″N 0°0′5.3″W) of the observatory. It was earlier demarcated by a brass strip but now it is replaced by stainless steel. It shows as a bright green laser shining north across the London night sky.

As on date, the Greenwich meridian passes through the following countries----

United Kingdom, France, Spain, Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Ghana, Queen Maud Land in Antarctica.

Hope it helps!!!
