Dalton give six postulates in his atomic theory and out of these six postulates two postulates of his theory explain the law of Definite proportions :

● atoms are indivisible particles, which cannot be created or destroyed in the chemical reaction

● the relative number and kinds of atoms are constant in a given compound.

The law of Definite proportions states that in a chemical substance the elements are always present indefinite proportions by mass and this law was stated by Proust.

So, after combining both the postulates of Dalton's atomic theory and comparing it with the definite proportions we get to know that these postulates of Dalton's atomic theory can explain the law of Definite proportions.
