photosynthesis is the process by which plants makes their food using chlorophyll present within them which aids them in the trapping of sunlight. once this process is over,as it's chemical formula suggests,
the plants are useful to us because pure oxygen is once again returned to the atmosphere.

Photosynthesis is the process through which trees produce their food and oxygen, which is ultimately released in the atmosphere.

Oxygen produced by trees is used by them and then the rest is released in the atmosphere.
