HEYO...!!...!!

Which property of wave determines:

(i) Loudness: Loudness is the property of a sound by virtue of which a person can differentiate a sound wave of same pitch and quality but different amount of energy conveyed to their ears. It is a subjective propertyso it depends from person to person.

Loudness of a sound wave is determined by its Amplitude (the maximum displacement of the wave from its mean position).

Loudness is directly proportional to the square of the amplitude of a wave, so as Amplitude increases, Loudness also increases.

(ii) Pitch: Pitch is the property of a sound by virtue of which a person can differentiate between a grave sound and a shrill sound of same loudness and quality.

Pitch of a sound depends upon the Frequency of the sound. As Frequency (number of vibrations per second) increases, pitch of the sound increases.

Note: Women have high-pitched voice while men have low-pitched voice.

which wave property determines loudness and pitch

a) Loudness is determined by the amplitude of the sound greater the amplitude hore will be the Loudness.

b) Pitch is determined by the frequency. Higher is the frequency, greater will be the pitch.
