Which reactant is oxidized in the following chemical reaction
CuO+H2. Cu+H2O

  • Now, in the given reaction CuO + H2→Cu + H2O , copper which is in +2 oxidation state in cupric oxide gains 2 electrons and gets reduced to 0 state in copper atom. -On the other hand, hydrogen in 0 state in a hydrogen atom loses 2 electrons and gets oxidized into +1 state in water.
