The perennial rivers of India are the snowfed rivers that originate from the Himalayas. They include the Indus and its five tributaries, namely, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutluj, river Ganga and its tributaries Yamuna, Gandak, Garghara, Gomti and Kosi, and river Brahmaputra and its tributaries Tista, Torsa, Jaldhaka, Manas, Subansiri, Dibang, Lohit etc. There are other smaller perennial rivers too.
They are known as perennial rivers because these rivers are exhibit a continuous flow of water throughout the year.
