Most of the peninsular rivers are seasonal in nature, eg. Godavari, Krishna, Tungbhadra, Narmada, Tapi, Mahanadi etc. because they are dependent upon rain (monsoons) for their charge of water.

Seasonal Rivers Seasonal rivers are rain fed and do not flow all the year round. They are mainly found in Central and Peninsular India and include Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, Narmada, Tapi, Chambal, Betwa, Sind and Luni.
