Even though Julius Caesar refused to take the crown because he believed the crowd to be begging him to their king, he falls for his ambition and ends up succumbing to the prospect. Being the crwoned king of Rome was too glorious for him to resist. He vies for absolute power and is doubted by his own friend, Brutus to be a tyrranical future king.

“When Caesar says ‘Do this,’ it is performed,” says Antony.

Thus the common theme of power in Elizabethan tragedies gets potrayed enigmatically by the gret playwright Shakespeare.
