First of all..

There are 2 major gharanas in CLASSICAL music:

Hindustani

Carnatic

Every gharana has its own special style and is unique in its own way.

If you are interested in devotional and spiritual singing, maybe you should go for Hindustani.

If you are interested in hitting high notes, then you should go for carnatic.
