The progeny of asexual reproduction show very little variations. This reduces their chances of survival and evolution of species. Sexual reproduction promotes diversity among the offspring due to the occurrence of variations. The variations provide survival advantage in some cases. These variations are selected by nature and passed on from one generation to the other.New combinations of characters play an important role in the evolution of species. In this way, species reproducing sexually have better chances of survival than the species reproducing asexually.

the species in which some individuals are having some variations is likely to have a better chance of survival... variations helps a species to survive in adverse conditions....
for example a group of bacteria live in temperate water ..but due to environmental chances the temperature of water rises... so invudiduals with some variations can withstand the high temperature thus it helped in survival of that species
