Among the 29 states of India, Sikkim is the only one without a railway line. There have been many plans to develop a line into the state. A line from Sevoke to Rangpo is currently under progress.

Among the 7 union territories, the following do not have a passenger railway line or station at present:

Andaman & Nicobar Islands (had industrial lines previously)

Dadra & Nagar Haveli

Daman & Diu

Lakshadweep

The Himalayan state of Sikkim does not have a railway line anywhere in it. This is because almost all the area of Sikkim is situated on High Mountains, and it is not easy to construct a railway line there
