It is called so because this is the State where there is maximum rainfall occurs. If we see in the geographical condition of the India the we can understood that the westerlies which is coming from the south east is directly hitting to the hills of the mawsynram,shillong, MEGHALAYA which is known as the burst of moonsoon.
