Deoxyribose is the pentose sugar which is present in the structure of DNA ( deoxyribonucleic acid) . It is named so because there is absence of oxygen group at the 2' position of the pentose sugar.
On the contrary, pentose sugar of RNA is simply named as ribose sugar. There is presence of oxygen at 2' position ( in th form of -OH) in its structure.
