In sickle cell anaemia the substitution of Glutamic acid ( glu) by Valine is done at sixth position of beta globin chain i. e. peptide chain of haemoglobin...... This substitution of amino acid ( glu by valine) results due to single base Substitution at the sixth codon of beta globin gene from GAG to GUG....if this helps u then mark it as brainielist.
