Answer:

AP=-7,-12,-17....

an=-82

a=-7

d=-12-(-7)

=-12+7

=-5

n=?

an=a+(n-1)d

-82=-7+(n-1)(-5)

-82+7=(n-1)(-5)

-75/(-5)=(n-1)

15=n-1

n-1=15

n=15+1

n=16

therefore -82 is 16th term of an given AP

to see whether -100 is any term of an AP

an=-100

a=-7

d=-5

n=?

an=a+(n-1)d

-100=-7+(n-1)(-5)

-100+7=(n-1)(-5)

-93=(n-1)(-5)

-93/(-5)=n-1

as the decision is not possible -100 is not any term of an AP.
