Which test should be made before collecting hydrogen in a gas jar?

The chemical test for hydrogen is that it burns with a pop sound. Therefore before collecting the gas it should be tested with a burning splint, if the burning produces a pop sound, then you would know that what you are collecting is actually hydrogen gas.
