Answers
Road accidents are a main cause of death all over the world. But traveling by
car is safer now than in the past.
There are three main factors involved in road safety. Firstly, drivers and walkers
must be trained in safe road use. Secondly, roads must be safe.
Finally, cars must be safe.
In the last 100 years , governments have trained drivers and walkers .They have
also improved the safety roads by reducing speed to 20 mph near schools and in
residential areas . There is also a speed limit in towns and on motorways
Car makers have improved the safety of motor vehicles themselves. For example,
all new cars have belts for all seats, front and back, and special glass in the
windows. There are fog lights to help you see the car in front in bad weather.
However, there is still a long way to go .According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), there are over one million deaths in road accidents every
year. The figure is rising. We must do more to educate drivers and pedestrians.
