1. Mandal Commission (BP Mandal , MP) during Jan 1979 to Dec 1980 by PM Morarji Desai.  This was to identify the OBCs who were socially, economically and educationally backward.  It was to enlist all those classes into OBCs.

Then Mandal commission was to make recommendations for corrective measures by the government of India, to make improvements for them.

2.  The National Commission for Backward Classes , set up in 1993 by central government. This NCBC works under the ministry of social Justice and Empowerment.

This commission recommends to the government issues related to inclusion and exclusion of castes and classes. Also about the increase in reservations or decrease in them.

It also looks after matters relating to two institutions set up for the welfare of OBCs namely, the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) and the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
