He joined Plato's academy at the age of eighteen years in Athens and remained there until the age of thirty-seven. His writings cover many subjects - including physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics, poetry, theater, music, rhetoric, linguistics, politics and government. He worked as an itinerant teacher and remained the same for around 40 years throughout Greece and especially in Athens. The activities of Protagoras were not confined to the classrooms. He passed away in 420 BC.
