Hey..
First of all it's not blacklite, it's bakelite plastic.
We know that there are two types of plastic. One is thermoplastic and another is thermosetting plastic.
THERMOPLASTIC - these are the plastic which are soft and can be remoulded. For example : polythene.
THERMOSETTING PLASTIC - these are the plastic which are hard and can't be remoulded. For example : melamine, bakelite etc.
Bakelite is a thermosetting plastic used for making switch board panels, handles of cooking utensils etc.
Thermosetting plastic are used as I told u before these plastic can't be remoulded. So when the heat produced during electrical circuits, the switch board panel can't be melt. And same in during cooking food.
