Image is formed behind the object and lens.

when the image is formed distinct vision at the least distance of:

from lens formula,  

f 1 =  1/v  −   1/u

​f 1 =  −1 /v −  (− 1 /u) (from sign convention)

Or                        

1/f  =  −1 /v + 1  /u

​ But v=D= Least distance of distinct vision

∴      f/ 1  =  −1 /D+  1/u

​ Or         D/f  =−1+   D/u

​ Or       1+  f /D =  u /D

​ Putting the value in equation (ii)

          m=1+  D/f

∴​Image is formed behind the object and lens.
