from lens formula,
f 1 = 1/v − 1/u
f 1 = −1 /v − (− 1 /u) (from sign convention)
Or
1/f = −1 /v + 1 /u
But v=D= Least distance of distinct vision
∴ f/ 1 = −1 /D+ 1/u
Or D/f =−1+ D/u
Or 1+ f /D = u /D
Putting the value in equation (ii)
m=1+ D/f
∴Image is formed behind the object and lens.
