Lime stone is calcium carbonate and when we heat CaCO3 it decomposes into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. So, heating of limestone is a thermal decomposition reaction . The reaction is also exothermic with the release of heat energy. The reaction is as follows :

CaCO3 -------> CaO + CO2

hope it helps!
