1. Parenchyma - These cells are the fundamental tissue of the plant as they constitute the ground substance of the plant organs. Bodies of lower plants and the meristematic cells are parenchymatous in nature. They have thin cell walls made of cellulose with large vacuoles and intercellular spaces.


2. Collenchyma - 
The cells are elongate and occur along the long axis of the body. The most distinctive character of the collenchyma cells is the cell wall which becomes unevenly thickened. Com­monly, the thickenings are confined to the corners of the cells.

3. Sclerenchyma - This 
simple tissue is adapted for mechanical function. The walls are considerably thickened, often heavily lignified with simple pits.
