Answer: The best-known example of Taylor's scientific management is pig iron. The moving pig iron (crude iron that comes in tiny pieces called "pigs" weighing more or less about 92 pounds). The task was quite simple:

1. to take pig iron from the blast furnace

3. Taylor has studied the men as they themselves did this. At that time, good and efficient workers were only able to move about 12 tons per day.

4. Based on some elementary biomechanical determination of energy expense and efficiency, Taylor has calculated that a man in good and stable condition should be able to move or walk 47 tons a day.
