Tannins , alakaloids , resins . One pointer calling them waste products would not be justified , so using the term secondary metabolites would sound appropriate, hopefully this helps

Resins, tannins, gum and other waste product are deposited in xylem that pretty soon turns non-functional. e.g., hardwood.

Xylem is just a type of the two transport tissues that can be found in vascular plants.

Xylem basically helps in transporting water from the roots to the different parts like leaves and stems.

It also helps in transporting essential nutrients.

Primary xylem grows during initial growth from procambium.

The Secondary xylem forms from the vascular cambium.
