Answer:

Emperor Ashoka is known to be one of the greatest rulers of India. He was very cruel and greedy until the Kalinga War. After he saw the sad seens of the war , he became a changed man. Ashoka gave up war and lived a life of peace. But his weakness was that due to his complete focus on the spread of Buddhism, he did not look into the matters of the state . He did not impose any punishment on even the worst of crimes . Due to this, robbery and dacoity became common in the public. He did not maintain a standing army, due to which many individuals started to declare their freedom over his rule. During his death, he gave all of his wealth and property to the Buddhist monks, thus leaving only the Mauryan Empire for his child. Only 50 years after his death, the Mauryans perished. Thus he may be said to be the silent killer of the empire his grandfather had eshtablished with so difficulty. Even King ChandraGupta renounced to his worldly life but gave all that he owned to his son and Ashoka’s father Bindusara for the well-being of his country and India.
