1. Localism- Italy was divided into eight separate states and each of them had their own system of government and interests.

2. Romanticism- Italian nationalists was the influence of Romanticism.  The revolutionaries were influenced by Romanticism ideas and their plans appeared non-feasible.

There were other reasons also, such as the absence of proper leadership etc.
