Tricolour flag was first hosted in 1921 by INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS.

The present National Flag came into existence on 22nd July 1947 at a meeting of the Constitutional Assembly as Free India National Flag. It was then hoisted at the Council House on August 15th of the same year immediately after the British Jack was pulled down. This was the same day that India won its independence from the British Rule.

However, in the previous years, India has had many flags that were hoisted in many places by different people between 1906 and 1931.
