so basically for calculating mean using step deviation method

we need to find first di ie deviation and then ui which is calculated by dividing di of respective class and constant class width among given classes

so then we use u mean=fiui/fi

and then finally by applying step deviation method

we get

Mean x=ui×h+Assumed Mean

so but if mean of deviation ie u mean is 0

then subsequently value of Assumed mean+u×h

would be Assumed Mean+0×h

=Asuumed Mean+0 ie assumed mean

so we can conclude that if value of d mean(in assumed mean method) or u mean(step deviation method) then value of actual required mean ie value of x mean would be value of Assumed mean

Ie Mean X=Value of Assumed mean(A)
