While conducting the experement to determine the melting point of ice students observed that the thermometer reading decreased for sometime and then become constant what could be the possible reason for this ? Explain briefly.

it reduced as it caught the coldness of ice and then it remains constant as the heat energy is used up in the breaking the force of attraction between the molecule . you will also notice it remains constant at 0○C until the ice fully melts
