while diluting an acid why is it recommended that the acid should be added to water and not water to the acid​

Acid should be added to water becoz the heat released at that time is absorbed by water ...but if water is added to acid the heat evolving from acid ,vaporizes the water and it smashes out..........

Answer:

It is recommended to add the acid to the water drop by drop to avoid an explosion.If water is added to the acid , there are more chances of the acid to explode . The explosion would take place due to the huge amount of difference in their PH levels.
