while diluting an acid why is it recommended that the acid should be added to water and not water to the acid

I think the main reason behind it that the reaction will not be possible and if we go through the reaction of acid + water we get hydrogen gas release so if water + acid I don't think there will be hydrogen

While diluting an acid, acid must be added slowly to the water from the corners of the beaker with constant stirring as it is highly exothermic. If water is added to the acid then the acid may splash out and cause harms to our body. So, it is recommended to add acid to the water and not the opposite.
