While diluting an acid why is it recommended that the acids should be added to water and not the acid?

Adding water to acid released a lot of heat and can instantly turn water to steam causing explosion. But when acid is added to water, water is enough to absorb the heat produced and in turn it's safe   Hope it helps u   @skb

If we add acid to water while diluting the solution the reaction will be vigorous exothermic reaction which will temperature high and sometimes the glass container will also break . So it is advisable to add acid to the water while diluting the solution
