While doing an experiment with a mirror to get an image, Gayathri got magnification value m as +1.5.
Based on the above statement answer this.

In this case, Gayathri used a concave mirror.

This can be explained as follows-

Magnification(M) of a mirror is given by:

M = Image height/ Object height

As per convention, if the image formed is inverted, then the height of the image will be negative.

Therefore, as magnification is positive in this case, the height of the image needs to be positive as well( height of object remains positive in all cases) , which means that the image formed is erect and also virtual.

This is possible only in case of a concave mirror in which the object is placed inside the focal length, thereby producing an enlarged, erect and virtual image behind the mirror.

Given

magnification =+1.5

nature of the image :

  • virtual
  • erect
  • enlarged

The mirror which produces this type of image is concave mirror  when object is placed in between P and F Image is produced behind the mirror.
