While heating iron fillings and sulphur,eyes are kept away from vapours.Why?

When iron filings are heated with sulfur, it is suggested to keep the eyes away from the vapors.

This is because it releases poisonous gas named sulfur dioxide which can damage the eyes of the person carrying out the experiment and can even turn them blind as well.
