While riding a bicycle if we stop paddling ,why does bicycle begin to slow down

Answer:The bicycle begins to slow down as we are not applying force on the pedals to move the bicycle and because of friction the bicycle begins to slow down.

It is due to the opposing force friction cause due to mechanical interlocking of surface particles and paddle. As the force due to pedaling keeps bicycle going, in this process the applied force overcome or cancel out its effect. When force applied stops the opposing force, friction comes into play and opposes motion.
