White blood cells are not like othercells in the body - they act like independent, living single-cellorganisms. They are able to move on their own and can engulf other cellsand bacteria. Many white blood cellscan't divide and reproduce on their own. Instead, they are produced in the bone marrow.

Good question and I don’t know the answer. I thought all cells with nuclei replaced themselves, and WBC’s have a nucleus. They are, however, formed in the bone marrow from stem cells and can increase in number, rapidly, if infection demands a big immune response. Maybe there is unlimited stem cell availability in bone marrow and it is the reason.
