white wash was being done at mukesh house . mukefh saw that the painter added quick lime to drum having watwr . mukesh touched outer surface of drum . it us unbelievably hot .

a)Calcium oxide reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide, also called slaked lime.

b)A lot of heat is produced in the reaction, which may even cause the water to boil.Hence it is a combination reaction as well as exothermic reaction.
