Legal Service Authority (LSA) is a law to constitute legal services authorities to provide the weakest sections of society with free & competent legal services to guarantee that opportunities are not refuted/denied to any citizen for the sake of economic/other impairments, and to organize Lok Adalats to guarantee the promotion of equity-based justice through the "operation of the legal system".

Explanation:

The criteria for benefit under LSA are

(a) A member of a Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste ;

(b) A survivor, in compliance with Article 23 of the Constitution, of human trafficking or beggar;

(c) A child/woman

(d) A disabled/mentally ill person

(e) A person who is unreserved in circumstances such as a victim of caste atrocities, mass catastrophe, flooding , earthquake, drought, or industrial catastrophe, and ethnic violence

(f) An industrial workman

(g) In custody, in a juvenile home, in a psychiatric hospital/nursing home as stipulated in the respective acts

(h) Having an annual income of less than INR 9000 or such other amount as  prescribed by the State Govt, and if the case is before a court other than the Supreme Court, and is less than INR 12000 or such other higher amount as stipulated  by the Central Govt., where the case is before the Supreme Court.
