Answer:

Some of the invaders' priests became Brahmans (the highest-ranking caste). Some indigenous tribes and clans also attained Rajput status, such as the Rathors of Rajputana; the Bhattis of Punjab; and the Chandelas, Paramaras, and Bundelas of central India.

Explanation:

Both the terms widely differ, in meanings as well as the power they hold. Rajput is a group, a community which is now considered as a caste according to the constitution of Modern India. The Rajput term was derived from a Sanskrit language’s combination of two words i.e. Raja-putra which meant the sons of Kings. The origin of Rajputs came from 6th century when the Gupta Dynasty (or mostly empire) collapsed. At that time the rise of Kshtriya varna was at peak in the Hindu varna System, and there were two groups the one who led the Kshtriya varna and the others were those who supported them (and apparently popped up as cultivators) and those were The Gurjars, Jats, Ahirs. At the same time people with princely led states and status rose, who were warriors and these indigenous groups were ranked as Rajputs, their examples were the Bhatis, Rathores and Chandelas. Rajputs were holding the states in north India, today they are spread in the State of Rajasthan, Haryana, Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Bihar.

The Rulers and Kings were divided into their own provinces and and areas which were commonly called the Jagirs. Those Rajputs whose ranks were below the King but held a good status in the Jagirs were termed as Thakurs. They performed the same activities as a Sarpanch does in the Gram Panchayats today.

All Thakurs are Rajputs but not all Rajputs are Thakurs.

Edit: Those complaining that not all thakurs are Rajputs, to them, Britishers got this idea of giving “thakur” title from the western Rajputana system. Here the concept was like in place of a deceased person his son will take over his place, thus Thakur title was transferred to the sons of their deceased fathers.
