Removal. The Constitution states that the Vice President can be removed by a resolution of the Rajya Sabha passed by an effective majority (i.e.,majority of all the then member of the house ) and agreed by the Lok Sabha with simple majority (Article 67(b)).

Process of removal of Vice-President

Explanation:

  • The Vice-President of India  may be removed from his office by a resolution of the Rajya Sabha passed by a majority of its members and agreed upon by the Lok Sabha.But,it should be noted that the resolution requires 14 days notice to be moved in the Rajya Sabha under article 67(b) of the Constitution.
  • The Supreme Court can remove the President on grounds of malpractices or if the Vice-President cannot prove his/her's eligibility per article 71(1) of the Constitution.
