that have formula of ( FeSO4 .7H20 )

it is green of colour






the reddish Brown substance is ferric oxide


formula of ( Fe2O3 )
it is of brown in colour



following are the equation that so the thermal decomposition of ferrous sulphate crystal




FeSO4 .7 H20 ====∆ => FeSO4 + H20


here the ferrous sulphate is anhydrous because there is a loss of water of crystallization



now ,


again ferrous sulphate is heated :-



FeSO4 ===∆===> FeSO4 + SO2+ SO3




there is a smell of burning of sulphur due to formation of Sulphur dioxide which is generally a smell like rotten egg.
