Louisa Mebbin is a very witty and cunning character who knows how to take advantage of a situation. Whenever a chance to gain wealth comes her way she uses her mind to extract the maximum out of a situation. She is an opportunist and a great manipulator. Louisa Mebbin uses a tone of blackmail against Mrs. Packletide since she is aware of Mrs. Packletide's secret of killing a tiger, just to extract some wealth from her. Louisa Mebbin persuades Mrs. Packletide to buy her a weekend cottage so that she would keep mum about the entire episode of whether Mrs. Packletide killed the tiger or it died of a heart attack.
