Who first embrace Swaraj?

Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the first Indian to embrace Swaraj. He is well-known for his Marathi quote that translates to “Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it”.

In his paper Kesari, Tilak strongly supported the revolutionaries and raised the need for Swaraj or self-rule immediately following the consequences of an erroneous bomb attack.
