The history of the English language really started with the arrival of three Germanic tribes who invaded Britain during the 5th century AD. These tribes, the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes, crossed the North Sea from what today is Denmark and northern Germany.

English belongs to a larger language family referred to as Indo-European including Latin, Greek, Spanish, Russian, French, German, Farsi, and Romanian, just to name a very small number.

English itself developed from within the Old Norse, Germanic branch via Anlgo-Saxon

First of all, Language is the greatest invention by the human which was never invented by anyone.

The speakers of the language shape the language and it's a continuous process which is always going on. We don't realise that we're consciously and unconsciously shaping the language. The rules of grammar were never created by an individual or even a group of individuals. Expressiveness, Economy, and analogy shape any language
