I was always taught that it was Guglielmo Marconi - Wikipedia who invented the modern day radio set. Radio waves were first predicted by James Clerk Maxwell - Wikipedia and then Heinrich Hertz - Wikipedia was the first to actually generate radio waves under experimental conditions.
