JOHN DALTON is credited for giving atomic theory.
According to Dalton's atomic theory :
• Elements are made up of small indivisible particle called atoms
• Atoms of a given element are identical but differ from the atoms of other elements.
• Atoms cannot be subdivided, created or destroyed .
• Atoms of different elements combine in simple whole number ratio to form chemical compounds.
• Atoms take part in all chemical reactions.
Mark it as the BRAINLIST if it works .

John Dalton is credited for giving first Atomic Theory i.e., Dalton's Atomic Theory.
Recap of Dalton's Atomic Theory :-
1. Atom is the smallest particle and all matter ( solid, liquid and gas ) are made up of atoms.
2. Atoms of same element are identical and differ to that of other elements.
3. Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed. An atom is indivisible and indiscreet part of matter.
4. Atoms combine at large ratio to form bigger compounds.
✍ In nutshell for Dalton, atom was a smallest, indivisible and indiscreet part of matter.
However, this theory of Dalton was proved wrong at very instant after :-
⇒Discovery of isotopes according to which atoms of same element are not similar. At least they differ by masses.
For instance, when scale is rubbed with hair and brought near to page pieces then they get attracted.
⇒This proved that atoms have charges and hence are not 'indivisible' part of matter.
✍ But science has its own beauty that theories can be proved incorrect but not totally wrong. Dalton was first scientist to give theory on basis of atom. This is why his theory was first Atomic Theory in history of science.
