- Surendranath Banerjee was one of the initial political leaders and is known as the pioneer leader of 'Indian politics at the time of the British Rule'. He started the newspaper The Bengalee in the year 1879 and started the 'Indian National Association' along with 'Anandmohan Bose', which was the '1st Indian political organization' of its type on 26 July in the year 1876.
